CASE STUDY · BRANDED TECH / PREMIUM MERCHANDISE

Creating a Premium Soft-Touch Finish for a Branded Tech Product

For premium tech merchandise, perceived quality starts before the customer reads the logo. The product has to feel right in the hand - and the soft-touch layer has to stay where it belongs.

THE BUYER'S CONCERN

The customer feels the product before they evaluate the engineering.

For a premium tech gift or consumer accessory, the tactile experience can change the perceived value immediately. A product may have the right logo and the right dimensions and still feel inexpensive if the surface feels inconsistent, the material transition is rough, the soft layer feels loose, edges are poorly controlled or the overmold can be peeled away. For branded merchandise, those are not factory details. They are part of the brand experience.

THE PRODUCT CHALLENGE

Two targets at once: tactile feel and integration

The project shown uses liquid silicone molding around a rigid component. The development target was therefore twofold: create the desired soft-touch silicone feel, and keep the silicone and rigid structure integrated during real handling.

OUR RESPONSE

Our Response

Feel and integration were developed together.

011

Control the Rigid Insert Position

The rigid component was placed accurately inside the molding system.

022

Mold the Soft-Touch Silicone Layer

Liquid silicone was molded to create the intended tactile surface.

033

Manage the Interface

The interface was treated as a functional part of the product rather than a decorative coating.

044

Check Physical Integration

The molded component was physically handled to confirm that the soft layer remained integrated in the demonstrated condition.

RESULT

A soft-touch exterior with an integrated multi-material structure

The final parts shown combine a soft-touch silicone exterior with a rigid underlying structure and maintain the integrated interface during the demonstrated handling test.

WHAT THIS CASE SHOWS

What This Case Shows

For premium branded tech products, ESKY can support projects where the buyer needs more than logo application. The product can be developed around soft-touch feel, multi-material construction, custom geometry, clean edges, durable daily handling, and packaging and kitting after production. Relevant applications include tech gifts, device accessories, travel-tech products, wearable accessories, branded electronics accessories and premium consumer products.
